EASI

Empowerment Approaches and Social Inclusion

During two years from 2010-2012, Basta together with Dialogues, France, and Diagrama Foundation, UK, have formed the Grundtvig Partnership project EASI, Empowerment Approaches and Social Inclusion.During the two years the partners have exchanged good practice developed new ideas around the themes of:

  • Social inclusion of disadvantaged groups
  • Offering more and better opportunities for the target group
  • Knowledge as a tool for inclusion
  • Social enterprising and entrepreneurship

The overall aim of the EASI-project was to improve the organisations’ working methods for the benefit of the target group through the exchange of good practice and development of new methods. The partners of the EASI partnership work with unemployed people, people in disadvantaged areas, people with previous experience of criminality and drug abuse as well as young offenders.

Dialogues in France, is an association working with people in disadvantaged areas. Dialogues runs a food store for people with low incomes, which is supported by social workers. The food store also functions as a social enterprise giving opportunities for unemployed people to receive training and acquire work experience.

Diagrama Foundation in the UK is a not-for-profit organisation, working to promote the development of programs, centres, and research dedicated to the prevention, treatment and integration of young people at risk.

Two important outcomes of the project is that Diagrama has now started the process of a transfer of innovation of the Basta model into a UK context and that Basta and Dialogues have started a collaboration with other social organisations around the theme of participatory governance.
